Wow what a run it was one of those runs that you can look at the day after and laugh at or cry. This was Christy 1st run in the Baja and I don't think she will forget it , Thanks John for putting this run on. John just rolls along like he going to the corner store over all the ( I call what the hell is this ) technical stuff . It was a long day, we left around 9:30 am and didn't arrive back at the motel till after 7:30 pm. There were about 12 buggies. I have to put in special thanks to the two Jeep brothers Mark and Dave. I think we would still be out there trying to get Shredder and Mikie out of the rough stuff. They both blew their transmissions in the same place The Staircase which is just before Heartattack Hill and just after The Squeeze. I have to admit with all my years of dirt bikes, buggys and baja's that if it wasn't for the buggy making it in front of me I would have never attempted some of the obstacles like Heartattack Hill. I took one look down and went into the lock up mode. All I could remember saying was I'm not going down that, I'm not going down that! I got out and walked to the edge and wham, vertigo. I thought I was going to fall off it just standing there. I decieded to abadon my baja. Me, Christy and Regina made our way through the brush down the hill. I was thinking of just leaving my baja up there but we had a couple of volunteers that said they would bring it down. Dale jumped in it, got it up and started to drop the tires over the edge of the hill and deceided it wasn't the greatest idea and started yelling at Ed to open the door to let him out. He didn't like the feel of my brakes and I didn't have an emergency brake. We all thought the car was going to roll down the hill by itself but Ed threw a rock under the tire " Thanks Ed ". My good Buggy Buddy Kevin without a second thought about his own safety jumped in my baja and started down the hill. I didn't want to watch but was very pleased when I saw the tow strap hooked to the Jeep that was helping Kevin down the hill. Super thanks Kevin and Jeep Buddys there is no way I could repay you. I got my baja back. Everyone assured me it was easy going down the wash to the road. I never thought buggy buddies would tell little white lies. We were not done with what I consider several more exciting technical obstacles. Once we got down to the wash about 6 or 7 buggys took off. I was in the rear and I cannot belive that the two Jeeps could pull the baja and buggy through that rough stuff, no less being in the tow vehicle with that much cable in the dark. There was no moon and we stopped to adjust my headlights and realized it was very dark and quiet we couldn't see anyone. We lost sight of the front group. After about 45 minutes Christy and I thought we were going to be coyote bait. I remembered that I had my street GPS in my camera bag, it was a life saver it even named the wash we were on. We could tell we were heading the right direction to the Salton Sea and that we would hit asphalt soon, but about 5 miles before the road her came the Lone Ranger John to save day. He said just keep going and we would hit the road in a couple of miles. We were saved, what a run.

I'm not really sure but I think they were pulling Pete back up the hill. Ahh Hell, he wasn't being pulled up the hill he was rolling off Heartattack Hill pulling Shredder.
