Todd & THE Y. Jacket,

OK, you're giving me a hypothetical, without all the facts, so here's what I've got...

My first "guess" would be that (s)he would wave to you and "say neat car!"
That's entirely up to the officer, of course, maybe they would just smile at you.
Or, maybe they are having a bad day and ... you're the next revenue target.

Unless you were breaking the law in some fashion. Know what I mean, Vern?

If you are breaking the law you could get a "fix-it" ticket for no mirror or no windshield wipers or your horn doesn't work or you've got a brake light that doesn't work or something, but nothing to do with the registration or title that was clearly isued by the DMV, no problemo.

Even if you were breaking the law...
If the DMV gave you a title for the car (which is in your safety deposit box at the bank) and the current registration is with you, the license plates are on the car and the year and month tags are correct and are on the rear license plate, then the DMV has cleared the way for you on any registration issue. And, your driver's license matches with the name on the registration. You have a street legal vehicle!

The engine type has absolutely no bearing on the registration or title. The engine type is not recorded on the title or registration.

Paved roads, just more needless government spending...

I pick up my mail in Santa Barbara, California, USA.
