hey glenn,

i've never even gotten out of the water yet. i have a lido (el lobo) just like you, and have been following your rebuild with great interest. i've been building mine for about 15 years. i wasn't ready to build it when i got a good deal on a rolled bug for a donor, and a friend told me about a body that was sitting in another friend's backyard. so i had both, and both sat for a long time. then my wife and i both needed new cars, then there was a bad economy, then we had three kids, then we decided to sell our house and buy one that needed (still needs) lots of work (meaning time), and on and on. in the meantime, i did what lee said: did as much little stuff as i could. bought a welder and taught myself to weld and shortened my pan myself. plus i have no idea what i'm doing, so i've had to research and learn everything, every step of the way.

now i'm getting close to finishing. i have the engine. i have the trannie. i've rebuilt the front and rear, put in disc brakes all around, and have met with the fabricator for the cage. after i modify the hood to make it an opening hood, i'll hand it off to him. after that, it's wiring and paint, and i hope to be finished by summer 09.

so keep plugging away, and if someone like me can eventually get a buggy finished, i know you will too, and a lot faster than i did, i'm sure.
