That sort of thing happened a lot when I was building my buggy. Part of it was because I needed to save up the money to buy the parts I really wanted, part of it was because I had to wait so long for the body to be ready. I just looked around and tried to find all the little inexpensive things I could do while waiting. Seam weld the shock towers, trans horns, and rear trailing arms. Then clean, prime and paint them. Clean up all the original nuts and bolts I was going to re-use. Make gussets and weld them in place (or at least get them ready for the weldor). Things like that.
